Bergen Catholic 21 Delbarton 6

After playing a pair of out-of-state opponents to open the 2022 season, Bergen Catholic (3-0) is ready to finally get into their New Jersey schedule. The Crusaders got off on the right foot Saturday with a quality win over a tough, well-coached Delbarton (0-2) squad. Maryland commit DJ Samuels and company held the Green Wave out of the endzone, while Samuels actually found paydirt himself on a 69-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Marlboro 35 Freehold Township 7

Quarterback AJ Schwartz had a TD run and TD pass and the Mustangs defense produced a pair of fourth-quarter INT’s for scores to cap off a 2-0 start.  The Mustangs had a 14-7 halftime lead that swelled to 21-7 after Schwartz’s 1-yard TD run.  In the 4th, Jake Houston had a nine-yard pick-six TD followed by Anthony Tropeano taking a 37-yard pick to the house.  Both plays saw Lucas McEvoy pressure the quarterback creating the turnovers.

Pennsauken 34 Camden Eastside 6

The Indians surged in the second half for the second-straight week to remain unbeaten to start the season. Dante Viccharelli rushed for three touchdowns to lead the way offensively for Pennsauken (2-0). Jayden Farmer provided the play of the game with a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Judah Anthony rushed for a touchdown in the loss for Camden Eastside (0-2).

Ocean City 21 Cedar Creek 7

The Red Raiders turned in a gritty defensive effort on the road, capped off by a Roy Salugta interception return for a TD to seal the win late in the fourth quarter. Jack Hoag rushed for a TD, caught a touchdown pass, and pulled in an INT for OC (2-1) in the victory. Billy Smith rushed for a touchdown for the Pirates (1-2) in the loss.

Hillside 45 Metuchen 0

Hillside picked up their second win of the season following a dominant 45-0 win over Metuchen. The Comets with two first half scores from Army commit Kyon Simonson led 20-0 at the break.

Bonus Coverage: Westfield 21 Union 14

Westfield picked up their first win of the season following a tight 14-12 victory over Union. The Blue Devils trailed 14-7 at halftime until two rushing scores from quarterback Trey Brown would give Westfield a late 21-14 lead in the fourth quarter. Brown finished with 156 total yards to accompany his two touchdowns.
