Pascack Hills 1 Rumson-Fair Haven 0 | Group 2 State Championship

Joey Giordano outdueled Jackson Hinchliffe in a tremendous pitcher’s duel as the lefty scored the game’s only run on a Sean Busanic bloop single to left in the bottom of the 6th to give the Broncos its third state championship in the last six years.  Giordano went the distance on a three-hitter, walking just three and striking out eight.

Morris Knolls 9 Mainland 3 | Group 3 State Championship

Michael Simone hit a home run and drove in five runs to help lead the Golden Eagles to the first state title in program history. James Kahn hit the go-ahead two-run double in the third inning, while Joe O’Toole threw six innings to earn the win on the mound for Morris Knolls (21-10-1). Bryan Perez drove in two runs for Mainland (14-14) in the loss.

Old Bridge vs. Ridgewood | Group 4 State Championship

Ridgewood defeated Old Bridge 4-0 to capture the program’s second ever Group 4 Championship. The game got started with a two run home run from Lucas Barker in the bottom of the third to put Ridgewood ahead 2-0. JT Luther would drive in another run in the bottom of the fourth and a score on a double steal in the sixth gave the Maroons a 4-0 lead. Junior Vincent Luther went seven innings on the mound for Ridgewood, allowing five hits, no earned runs and seven strikeouts for the team’s tenth straight victory.
