The state playoffs roll on as sectional semifinals take center stage on Saturday!


South Brunswick 72 Marlboro 61 | Boys | Central Group 4 Semifinal

(6) South Brunswick advances to the Central Jersey, Group 4 Final with a 72-61 win over (7) Marlboro. Alex Frank with 11 points in the first quarter put Marlboro ahead 17-12 after one. South Brunswick held onto a two point lead at halftime before pushing the deficit to double digits in the second half and controlled the pace throughout. Senior Kalani Antoine finished with 23 points as the Vikings will compete for their first Sectional Title since winning back in 2020.

South River 72 Bound Brook 66 | Boys | Central Group 2 Semifinal

Jeremy Grospe’s NBA range three-pointer broke a 63-63 tie with 1:15 to go and the Rams made six big free throws down the stretch to earn a spot in the Central Jersey Group 2 championship against Manasquan.  The Rams raced out to a 40-28 halftime lead before Bound Brook rallied to tie the game at 51 to close the third on a Jordan Summers three-pointer.  The fourth quarter went back and forth before Grospe put South River ahead for good.  Summers and Jordan Robinson each had 19 for Bound Brook while South River had five players in double figures with Gavin Franco and Roman Santos each pouring in 15.

Atlantic City 42 Shawnee 32 | Girls | South Group 4 Semifinal

The Vikings earned some redemption and a berth in the sectional finals after avenging a loss to the Renegades in last year’s playoffs. Sasha Lemons poured in 12 of her team-high 15 points in the second quarter in the win. Mississippi State commit Quanirah Cherry-Montague added 13 points and anchored a stout defensive effort from fifth-seeded Atlantic City (22-5). Bryant commit Nia Scott scored a game-high 18 points in the loss for top-seeded Shawnee (26-5). Atlantic City will face two-seed Cherokee for a South Jersey title on Monday.

Middle Twp. 49 Haddonfield 22 | Girls | South Group 2 Semifinal

Top-seeded Middle Township outscored the fourth-seeded Haddons 19-2 in the third quarter to take control. Jada Elston scored a game-high 15 points, while Mia Elisano added ten points in the victory for the Panthers (22-8). Reece Volovich scored a team-high eight points for Haddonfield (20-9) in the loss. Middle will host second-seeded Cinnaminson for the SJ Group 2 title on Monday night.
