It’s section championship Saturday in New Jersey high school soccer and JSZ brings you a pair of sectional title tilts!


Cherry Hill West 2(4) Shawnee 2(3) (PKs) | Boys | South Jersey Group 3 Final

West is best again in South Group 3 as the third-seeded Lions knocked off the top-seeded Renegades in penalty kicks to win back-to-back sectional titles. Leo Orefice came through in the clutch for West, picking up two huge saves in PKs. Peter Graffeo netted two goals to power Cherry Hill West (13-4-3). Matt Conger finished with a goal and an assist in regulation, plus a goal in PKs for Shawnee (13-2-6).

The second-seeded Lions upended the top-seeded seeded Renegades in penalty kicks to win the first sectional title in program history! Abby Leporati’s diving save sealed the deal and sparked a long-awaited celebration for Cherry Hill West (12-7-3).

Middletown South 3 Brick Memorial 2 (2OT) | Girls | Central Jersey Group 3 Final

Makayla Jaffe volleyed in an Abby Doherty service in the 98th minute for her second goal of the game to give the Eagles a sectional title.  Jaffe started the scoring in the first half to give the Eagles a 1-0 halftime lead.  Brooke DeAlmeida drew the Mustangs level midway through the second half.  Freshman Bea Tinoco scored her 21st goal of the season to make it a 2-1 Eagles lead with 8:59 to go before Mia Caruso found the net in the 75th to set the stage for overtime.
