St. Peter’s Prep 21 Don Bosco 7

The rematch of last year’s Non-Public Group 4 championship was defined by a dominant defense effort courtesy of the reigning champions. The St. Peter’s Prep defense collected six sacks and two interceptions, while Tahj Bullock led the offense with two touchdown passes and another on the ground.

Delbarton 24 DePaul Catholic 14

Cole Freeman had two TD passes to David Link and the Delbarton defense was able to shut down DePaul five times inside the 10-yard line to score a second straight win over the defending Group 3 state champions. Jake Jarmolowich had two interceptions to lead the Green Wave defense. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights and post-game reaction from Morristown:


Camden 34 Haddonfield 7

The Panthers bounced back from their season-opening loss in a big way, as they handled the Haddons at home. Jalin Brownlee threw three touchdown passes in the victory; two to Duce Chestnut, and the other to Dameir Burns. Nazir Dale scored on the ground for The High. Chestnut, Nyair Brown and Daishon Boyd-Tay all had interceptions in the win for Camden as well.

St. Joe’s (Metuchen) 20 Westfield 3

St. Joseph (Metuchen) is off to a 2-0 start in 2020. The Falcons, playing lights out defense, forced an early turnover in the first half to take a 7-3 lead. From there, St. Joe’s never let up, and held the Blue Devils to just their opening field goal. Quarterback Matt Stanton had two passing touchdowns, while Omari Jones finished with 70 yards rushing and a score. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

Salem 35 Penns Grove 14

The Rams fell short at the goal line a year ago, but they would not be denied this time around, snapping a three-losing streak to the Red Devils. Salem scored 21 points in 26 seconds late in the fourth quarter to pull off the upset against the two-time defending South Group 1 sectional champions in this annual rivalry game. Amare Smith and Amir Monsour were all over the field defensively, each scoring a touchdown in the closing rally for the Rams.

Governor Livingston 16 Hillside 14

Win streak snapped! The Highlanders of Governor Livingston upset the reigning regional champs and ended a winning streak that dated back to 2018. Jayson Schmidt had two touchdowns for the Highlanders in the win. JSZ’s Kenneth Bradley has the highlights:
