North 14 South 6 | Phil Simms All-Star Football Game

After falling in last season’s Phil Simms North-South All-Star Football Classic and watching South Jersey sweep the public state championships, North Jersey got the last laugh with a victory in this season’s annual showcase. Andrew Avent of Rahway scored a rushing touchdown and threw for another, earning the North’s Offensive MVP honors. With the win, the North improved its all-time record in the game to 22-21-2, taking the lead over the South in the series.

North 34 South 0 | Phil Simms All-Star Flag Football Game

Mount Olive’s Molly Smyth had two short TD runs to start the scoring and the North All-Stars added two long touchdowns and a pick six to score a dominating victory.  Weequahic’s Heaven Porter made a spectacular run after the catch for 39-yards to set up Smyth’s second TD and the North ended the half on a 66-yard hook and ladder that saw West Orange’s Nola Duncan pitch to Bayonne’s Tatyanna Watson.  Jaelynn Perez of DePaul Catholic went 61 yards on a Jayla Johnson pass to start the second half and West Milford’s Sara Wardlaw closed out the scoring with a pick six.
