We kick off a new week with some great games all around the state!


Kearny 3 St. Peter’s Prep 2 | Boys

Meet the Kardinals – the newest owners of the longest unbeaten streak in New Jersey high school soccer. Kearny (5-0) extended its unbeaten streak to 23 consecutive games in a hard-fought HCIAL matchup against St. Peters’ Prep (4-2). Johan Baez, Alejandro Alvarado and Benji Silva all scored for Kearny while Alex Cruz made 10 saves in the win.

Spotswood 2 Metuchen 0 | Boys

Spotswood defeated Metuchen 2-0 to improve to 4-2 while also handing the GMC Blue Division leader their first loss of the season. Sophomore Kieran Barlow scored both goals for the Chargers, and senior goalkeeper Aiden Scher ended the afternoon with nine saves.

Toms River North 4 Holmdel 1 | Girls

Alexis Garcia scored two goals in the span of 3:02 early in the second half to give the Mariners a comfortable cushion on the way to ending a brief two-game losing skid.  Sophomore Angelina DeCesare scored with 3.7 seconds left in the half to give TRN a 1-0 lead through 40 minutes. Garcia added her back-to-back goals followed by senior Madison DiEugenio’s left-foot blast.

Mainland 0 Ocean City 0 (2OT) | Girls

The Mustangs and Red Raiders played four times in 2021, splitting 2-2. It looks like there’s no separating these rivals in 2022 either, as they played to a double overtime scoreless draw. Genevieve Morrison was outstanding in net for Mainland (1-3-1), making a number of diving saves. Tori Vliet earned a clean sheet in goal for Ocean City (4-1).
