Holy Spirit 2 Mainland 1

The Spartans spoiled a Chase Petty start for the Mustangs, and handed Mainland its first loss of the season. UMBC commit Jayden Shertel struck out eight in six strong innings of work for Spirit, while Shane Solari and Ryan Spina provided RBI singles for the Spartans (8-6). The Florida commit Petty struck out eight in five innings on the mound. Cole Campbell drove in the only run of the game for Mainland (10-1).

Seton Hall Prep 11 Millburn 2

Mike Sheppard Jr. became the third coach in New Jersey history to record 800 career wins on the heels of a rousing 11-2 win over county rival Millburn (9-3). Seton Hall Prep (10-2-1) has now rattled off nine straight wins after big offensive days from Matt Monteleone (2-2, Grand Slam) and Chris Maldonado (2-4, three run home run).

Manalapan 1 Middletown North 0

Tyler Kane was sensational in a pitchers duel against Danny Frontera. The Manalapan junior threw a complete game three-hit shutout walking none and striking out 16 in a 1-0 win over the Lions. Frontera, the Seton Hall signee, was outstanding as well with a complete game four hitter and 12 K’s against just one walk . Manalapan got a sacrifice fly in the 4th inning for the only run of the game. The Braves (9-2) get two straight 1-0 wins over the Lions.
