Two great games get the week started. Check out Bridgewater-Raritan getting an extra innings win in Trenton plus a slugfest in Tinton Falls between Ranney and Matawan!

Bridgewater-Raritan 5 Cherokee 4 (10 innings)

Frankie Verano and Matt Cichocki were the heroes for Panthers in a great back and forth, extra innings battle against the Chiefs in the state’s capitol city. Verano ripped a go-ahead two-run single in the top of the 10th inning for Bridgewater-Raritan (13-1) before Cichocki ended the game with a great outfield throw as part of a 7-5 double play. Cherokee (8-4) never held a lead in this game but were in it until the absolute very end. Alex Odud went 2-5 at the dish and led the Chiefs with two RBI in the loss.

Ranney 7 Matawan 6

Ryan Costello belted two home runs to give him 10 in April and the Panthers held off a seventh-inning rally by Matawan to hand the Huskies (11-1) their first loss of the season.  Costello tied the game 2-2 on a two-run smash in the 1st and tied the game 3-3 with a moon shot to right in the third.  Curt Chropuvka gave Ranney a 7-3 lead through six with a solo shot but Matawan got back-to-back homers from Sal Cassano and Sean Hart to make things interesting.  Nate Fuller got a ground out with the bases loaded to preserve the win.
