JSZ kicks off a busy week with highlights from three sectional finals on the hardwood!


Nottingham 78 Ewing 71 | Boys | Central Group 3 Final

(2) Nottingham defeated (1) Ewing 78-71 to claim their first Central Jersey, Group 3 Championship since 2018. The Northstars got out to a 10-0 lead to begin the first quarter and remained ahead throughout the duration of game, going ahead by almost 20 in the third quarter. Ewing fought back and cut the deficit to two points, but fell short of a thrilling comeback. Senior JP Dickerson had a career high 34 points for Nottingham.

Moorestown 52 Ocean City 44 | Boys | South Group 3 Final

The fourth-seeded Quakers led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter, before holding off the tenth-seeded Red Raiders down the stretch to capture the sectional title. David Gheysens led a balanced Moorestown attack with 12 points, while John Cwik added nine points. Kori Segich scored a game-high 23 points for OC (15-13) in the loss. The Quakers (23-7) will now face Central Group 4 champ Nottingham in the state semifinals on Wednesday.

Woodbury 74 Burlington City 46 | Boys | South Group 1 Final

Trailing by eight at halftime, the second-seeded Thundering Herd (22-6) outscored the fourth-seeded Blue Devils 48-12 in the second half to bring home their first sectional title since 2018. New Haven football commit JaBron Solomon led the way offensively for the Thundering Herd with a game-high 31 points. Bryan Johnson chipped in with 11 points and eight of Woodbury’s 21 steals in the contest. Nazir King and Giovanny Paul each scored a team-high ten points in the loss for Burlington City (19-10).
