Rumson-Fair Haven 5 Southern Regional 2 | South Public 1st Round

Jacen Doumas broke a 2-2 tie with six minutes left in the third and the Bulldogs added two more goals to avoid an upset from the #13 seed.  RFH scored a pair of goals in the second period with Nik Doumas getting his 35th goal and Liam Hackett’s late tally to make it 2-0 at the end of two periods.  Southern roared back with Thomas Giaccio scoring :14 seconds into the third period followed by an Andrew Duda power play goal on a 5 on 3 to tie the game with eight minutes to go.  Cole Dorowrth and Brady Riva closed out the scoring for Rumson, who will face the winner of Hillsborough and Middletown South in the quarterfinals.

Ocean Township 1 Freehold Township 0 | South Co-Op 1st Round

Liam Forster’s goal off a beautiful long pass from Owen Mumm early in the second period was the only goal of the game and Roman Leonardi was flawless with 27 saves for the shutout to give the tri-op of Ocean, Shore and Monmouth Regional a spot in the second round of the South Co-Op state playoffs.  Ocean will face the winner of Robbinsville and North Hunterdon in the quaterfinals.
