Rumson-Fair Haven 5 Manasquan 2
Jacen Doumas scored a pair of goals to lead RFH to a season opening win against the #15 team in the state. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead on Doumas’ first goal which came in the final minute of the first period. Grayson Goldin extended the lead to 3-1 at the end of two periods. Manasquan’s Dylan Vowteras closed the gap to 3-2 int the opening minute of the third but Sal Iorio and Doumas were able to light the lamp and seal the win. Freshman goalie Cooper Menkowitz had 18 saves in his varsity debut for the win.

Seton Hall Prep 7 Gloucester Catholic 5
A six-point night from Matt Smith helped the Pirates stave off the upset-minded Rams in a barnburner of a game. Smith had three goals and three assists to lead Seton Hall Prep (1-2) to victory in a Gordon Conference National Division tilt. John Renzullo added in a pair of goals while Ryan Murray had four assists in the win. Nar Baiken was a bright spot for Gloucester Catholic (0-3) – he had a hat trick in the loss.

Verona-Glen Ridge 5 Nutley 2
The reigning Kelly Cup champions got the best of the Raiders in a divisional showdown Monday night. Jimmy Benson and Gavin Farrell combined to score goals as VGR (2-0) pulled away late to lock up the win. Christian Sherman had both goals for Nutley (2-2) in the loss.
