Girls basketball takes center stage on Monday as we bring you three games including top 10 state powers Manasquan and Saint Rose.  We also have a big Shore Conference boys showdown between Manasquan and Rumson-Fair Haven.  

St. Rose 55 Red Bank Catholic 42

St. Rose made a statewide announcement Monday night that they’ll be one of New Jersey’s toughest girls hoops teams after a big test against Red Bank Catholic.  Metuchen transfer Brynn Farrell slid right into the lineup and dropped 28 points in her second game as a Purple Rose.  JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights from a packed house in Belmar:

Manasquan 65 Rumson Fair-Haven 48 – Boys

After being the clear favorite in the Shore Conference a year ago Rumson-Fair Haven looked to continue their reign as Central Group 2 champions, but a fired up Manasquan team had statement plans of their own. The Warriors trailed by six at halftime then by nine to begin the third quarter before getting an emotional boost from Brad McCabe to finally go ahead 41-38 at the end of three. In the fourth quarter Manasquan padded that lead by abandoning the three point shot that had sparked their comeback and finished the game at the free throw line.
