A rainy Monday in New Jersey does not slow down the JSZ team bring your four boys soccer sectional semifinal matchups.  We’ve got highlights from Shore Conference champion Ocean Township, a cinderella battle between Shore and Carteret, plus wins for Elizabeth and Hunterdon Central.

Shore 3 Carteret 2 – Central Jersey Group 2 Semifinals

It has been one crazy ride for 14th seed Shore Regional in the Central Group 2 playoffs thus far. In their semifinal matchup with 10th seed Carteret the Blue Devils trailed twice to come up with a late game tying goal thanks to Conor Creighton. Then in overtime it was Brandon DeNavaes who came in clutch with the golden goal to send them to the sectional championship. Shore will face top seeded Holmdel on 11/8. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the call:

Thank you to Campozino Restaurant for sponsoring our Carteret coverage. We look forward to bringing you more Rambler athletics all year round!

Hunterdon Central 2 West Windsor-Plainsboro North 1 – Central Jersey Group 4 Semifinals

Will Drinane’s header off a feed from Thomas Schmitt with 15:21 to go broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Red Devils a spot in the sectional finals where they will face East Brunswick.  Both teams exchanged goals in the first six minutes and stayed even until the second half goal.  JSZ has the highlights from Hunterdon Central High School:

Ocean Township 2 Wall 0 – Central Jersey Group 3 Semifinals

James Schutz and Santieno Harding scored in the first ten minutes of the second half as the Spartans avenged a 2-0 loss to the Crimson Knights to return to the Central Jersey Group 3 finals for a second straight year.  Ocean will host Colts Neck on Thursday.  JSZ has the highlights of the All-Shore Conference battle in the sectional semifinals:

Elizabeth 2 Westfield 1 – North 2 Group 4 Semifinals

A Josser Amaya goal from a set piece in the 59th minute was the deciding factor as Elizabeth captured a 2-1 win at home against Westfield. Stephen Valencia was rock solid in net and Mathew Giraldo scored his sixth goal of the year in the win. The Minutemen will now face off against Scotch Plains-Fanwood for the title on Thursday. JSZ’s Jay Cook has the highlights:
