St. Augustine 53 Holy Spirit 46 | Boys

The Hermits fell behind by by ten early but never panicked, as they beat the rival Spartans in a Cape-Atlantic League clash. Matt Delaney controlled the paint and scored a game-high 17 points. John Horner and Elmarko Jackson scored 14 points and 12 points respectively in the victory. Jack Cella went for a team-high 13 points for Spirit in the loss.

Mainland 53 Cedar Creek 48 | Boys

The Mustangs move into first place in the Cape-Atlantic League National Conference with a close win over the Pirates. Mainland never looked back after using an 11-0 run to close the first half, despite a late push by the Pirates in the fourth quarter. Luke Mazur scored a game-high 25 points to lead the way for Mainland.

Marist 83 Matawan 30 | Boys

Junior guard Keith Mency pumped in a career-best 22 points to fuel an overpowering win for Marist over Matawan from the Shore Conference. Mike Jackson finished with 15 points and Manny Toha notched 13 more in the win.

Plainfield 65 Trenton 42 | Boys

Plainfield (5-6) picked up its second win in a row with a 65-42 victory over Trenton (4-9). The Cardinals led by a slim margin of four at halftime before leading by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter. Tyejuan Taylor finished the afternoon with 16 points. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

Rumson-Fair Haven 51 St. Thomas Aquinas 35 | Girls

Paige Slaven scored 24 points including nine of ten from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to give 14th ranked RFH a win over the #7 team in the latest state polls. St. Thomas Aquinas was playing without Georgetown commit Kelsey Ransom who was out with injury. The Trojans got 12 points from Emma Boslet, but scored just 10 points in the second half.
