JSZ kicks off the new week with a handful of hoops games! Two top NJ girls basketball teams duke it out on Staten Island, while have a conference battle in Union County and a showcase game from South Jersey. Stay tuned for all the highlights!


Saddle River Day 85 Ewing 51 | Girls

Saddle River Day (9-0) defeated Ewing (8-1) 85-51 at the Hooper NY/Metro Sports Martin Luther King College Showcase at Moore Catholic High School (Staten Island, NY), to hand the Blue Devils their first loss of the year. The Rebels got out to a 45-24 lead at halftime thanks to UNC commit Paulina Paris, who had 16 points through the first two quarters. Paris ended the evening with 29 points, while freshman Faith Williamson finished with 18 points. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

New Providence 52 Westfield 47 | Girls

A potential preview of this year’s Union County Tournament title game was a true back-and-forth battle. The momentum swung each quarter, but it eventually went New Providence’s way as they delivered their eighth-straight victory. Grace Kinum led all scorers with 19 points and hit the go-ahead shot in the fourth quarter. Westfield was powered by Grace Klag and her 15-point, 12-rebound double double.

Williamstown 41 Sterling 38 | Boys

The Braves trailed 33-22 heading into the fourth quarter, before battling back down the stretch. Landon Eaton and Sean Gallagher keyed the comeback with 11 points apiece for Williamstown (6-3). Jimmy Zingaro scored 13 points for the Silver Knights (8-3) in the loss.
