What a week! Friday night lights action from Week Five did not disappoint. Throughout the night, Jersey Sports Zone will be posting highlights from 10 games across the Garden State. Those include an overtime thriller between St. Peter’s Prep and Don Bosco Prep, Red Bank Catholic’s huge Shore Conference win, a last-second bonanza in Sayreville and a bevy of other games from all parts of the state.  Watch our teaser video then scroll down to watch all 10 games of action:

St. Peter’s Prep 26 Don Bosco Prep 23 (OT)

St. Peter’s Prep quarterback Maasai Maynor led the Marauders with a four-touchdown performance including a five-yard touchdown run in overtime to capture a 26-23 win over Don Bosco Prep. Maynor tallied 325 yards in the offensive outburst for St. Peter’s Prep. The win comes six days after the Marauders mustered 13 points against a stout DePaul Catholic defense. Sayreville 13 Edison 12

There was only 0.5 seconds left on the clock, but that was enough time for Mark Whitford to find Jacari Carter in the corner of the end zone from 18 yards out to give Sayreville a dramatic win on the road.  JSZ’s Bryan DeNovellis was there to capture all the excitement from one of the best finshes from the 2018 season:

 

Red Bank Catholic 41 Long Branch 14

The Caseys took over a 14-14 game with six minutes to go in the third with 27 unanswered points to get to 6-0 on the season.   Steve Lubischer had a 49 yard TD run and two TD passes, both caught by MJ Wright.  Billy Guidetti had three scores on the ground.  JSZ has all the highlights and post-game reaction from the big Shore Conference showdown:

Haddonfield 27 West Deptford 21

Haddonfield quarterback Jay Foley accounted for three touchdowns in a 27-21 win against West Deptford in a rematch of last year’s South Jersey Group II Sectional title game. The Bulldawgs now move onto an impressive 6-0 start on the 2018 and have become one of South Jersey’s top talents. JSZ’s Mike Frankel has all the highlights:

Middletown South 14 Toms River North 13

Trevor Brey’s 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter with a Chris Kaldrovics extra point gave the Eagles a fifth straight win and a one-point victory at Toms River North.  The Eagles executed a number of key third down conversions which was the key to clinching the Shore Conference’s American Division.  JSZ has the highlights of a much-anticipated matchup in Ocean County:

Notre Dame 28 Hightstown 7

After dropping their season opener against Allentown, Notre Dame has bounced back with four straight victories. In their latest matchup with Hightstown the Irish got ahead early thanks to a pair of touchdowns from running back Cortaz Williams to lead 21-7 at halftime. In the second half both teams would lead back to back defensive stands, but Notre Dame quarterback Robbie Buecker would put one last score on the board to get his team the W. Phillipsburg 56 Hillsborough 6

Phillipsburg football is famous for producing outstanding running backs, thanks to players like Joe Green. However, tonight the Liners showed off a second offensive threat. Senior QB, Jack Stagaard lead Pburg to a win over Hillsborough, after throwing for over 250 yards and 3 touchdowns. Holmdel 21 Donovan Catholic 11

Cameron LaMountain had two TD runs to hand Donovan Catholic its first loss of the season.  The Hornets improve to 4-1 and stand alone atop the Shore Conference’s National Division.  Watch JSZ’s highlights of Holmdel’s big win in Toms River:

Red Bank Regional 35 Toms River East 7

The Bucs got two TD’s from Nigel Mitchell and continue to turn heads in the Shore Conference with a 4-1 record.  RBR raced out to a 21-0 lead at the end of one and led 35-0 after a Makai Mickens 40 yard TD run in the third quarter.  JSZ has the highlights and post-game reaction from Madison Bess in Little Silver:

Kingsway 21 Hammonton 14

The Kingsway Dragons used a potent ground game to edge out a one-score victory over the Hammonton Blue Devils on Friday night. Running back AJ Butler notched 77 yards and a pair of scores to push Kingsway to 4-2 on the season. JSZ’s Mike Frankel has the great highlights:
