It’s a section semifinal Wednesday across New Jersey.  The JSZ team brings you three great games highlighted by a walk-off thrill ride at Northern Burlington.  Check out all of the action!


Northern Burlington 7 Lawrence 6 | Central Jersey Group 3 Semifinal

The defending Group 3 state champs saw a five-run lead slip away in the seventh, but dug deep to rally and make a return trip to a sectional title game. Brenner Pourghassem delivered a walk off RBI single to win it and Fordham commit Liam Velit smashed a solo home run to tie things up in the seventh. Mark Klusman and Jake Vasil added home runs, while Rutgers commit Cole Marchetti picked up his 200th career strikeout and 100th of the season for Northern Burlington (24-3). Shane Mitchell drove in a run as part of a six-run seventh inning, and Stevens commit Aiden Poot secured his 100th strikeout of the season for Lawrence (23-6). NBC will take on Brick Memorial in a rematch of last season’s Central Jersey Group 3 final on Friday.

Brick Memorial 3 Colts Neck 2 | Central Jersey Group 3 Semifinal

Tyler Garbooshian led off the game with a home run and the Mustangs scored single runs in each of the first three innings and got six strong innings from Zach Pirnik to reach the Central Jersey Group 3 championship game and a rematch with Northern Burlington.  Pirnik pitched six strong innings with Brody Moore getting the final three outs to pick up the save.  Colts Neck scored twice in the third on a Ryan Rude RBI single and Joey Pignatelli making it a 3-2 game on a base hit to right that scored Rude.  Brick Memorial is now 23-7 while Colts Neck season ends at 20-10.

Watchung Hills 10 Bayonne 0 (5 inn.) | North 2 Group 4 Semifinal

No. 14/3-seed Watchung Hills baseball are headed to the North 2 Group 4 final after a convincing 10-0 victory over 2-seed Bayonne in five innings. This marks the first time the Warriors have made a sectional final since 2016. Leading 2-0 after two, their offense exploded with an eight-run 3rd inning extend that lead to double digits. The Warriors’ ace Robert Centamore pitched a complete game, three hit, 10-strikeout shutout for his third shutout in his last four starts. Max Payne led the way on the bats with three RBIs, followed by Jacob Jaconski with two.

Watchung Hills now faces top-seed Ridge in the North 2 Group 4 final on Friday.
