Raritan 1 Rumson-Fair Haven 0 (9 innings) – Central Jersey Group 2
Shawn O’Hea delivered the walk-off game-winner in the bottom of the 9th as the Rockets got a nine-inning complete game shutout from Zack Johnston to advance to the quarterfinals in Central Jersey Group 2. Johnston and Alex Burnett were locked in a tremendous pitcher’s duel. Burnett exited the game after seven innings and reaching his pitch count. Johnston wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the 7th and threw just 99 pitches in his nine-inning gem. Sayreville 2 Princeton 0 – Central Group 4
The opening round of the Central Group 4 State Tournament saw a great pitching battle between 13th seed Princeton and fourth seeded Sayreville. In the first two innings Ben Amon for Princeton and Christian Aich for Sayreville both had six strike outs. The Bombers would put 2 runs on the board with a sac fly and a double from Anthony Gambardella to advance to the quarterfinals where they will face fifth seed Old Bridge who eliminated them for the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament.
