It’s state championship Sunday at Kean University for Non-Public soccer. JSZ brings you highlights and post-game reaction from four games.
CBA 2 Delbarton 1 (2 OT) – Non-Public Boys “A” State Final
Luke Pascarella delivered a magical right foot shot from 33-yards out with :19 seconds left in double overtime to give CBA a stunning win over the #1 ranked team in the state. The Green Wave scored four minutes into the championship game courtesy of Brendan McSorley and led 1-0 at the half. The game took a dramatic turn following a double yellow card on Delbarton and the Green Wave played the final 29 minutes a man down. The Colts drew even with 5:09 to go thanks to an upper 90 missle from James Hempstead to force overtime. Pascarella’s golden goal was a thing of beauty as you’ll see in the highlights. Gill St. Bernard’s 7 Rutgers Prep 0 – Boys Non-Public “B” State Final
Gill St. Bernard’s grabbed it’s second Non-Public B State Title in three years after an offensive explosion against Rutgers Prep. The Knights were led by Micaah Garenette who finished with hat trick. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the call:
Pingry 3 Oak Knoll 1 – Girls Non-Public “A” State Final
Olivia Volpe scored two first-half goals and Sophia Cavaliere added a score in the second half as the #6 seed claims its first state title in six years. JSZ has highlights and post-match reaction from Kean University:
Morristown-Beard 2 Saint Rose 0 – Girls Non-Public “B” State Final
The Crimson gets goals from Genevieve Pike and Danielle Yanotta in the span of 1:57 midway through the second half to get their first girls state soccer championship in school history. JSZ has the highlights from Kean and post-match reaction:
