Toms River North 42 Rumson-Fair Haven 21 | Shore Conference

Micah Ford was sensational with 396 yards of total offense and six touchdowns to give the Mariners a big win in a matchup of two top 15 teams in the latest state polls.  Ford had two long TD passes and four touchown runs highlighted by an 81-yard spectacular run in the second quarter.  Owen O’Toole threw two TD passes in a losing effort.  Jackson Gallagher opened the game with a 92-yard TD catch but TRN responded with four straight touchdowns.

Pope John 47 Paramus Catholic 40 | Super Football Conference

No. 17 Pope John (3-0) defeated No. 11 Paramus Catholic (2-1) 47-40 to remain unbeaten in 2023. The Lions led 21-0 in the first quarter and would remain in front 31-13 at halftime behind two first half rushing scores from junior running back Tylik Hill. Paramus Catholic would cut the game to 41-40 with two minutes remaining in regulation when a third botched extra point would seal their fate. Tylik Hill finished with 166 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Temple commit quarterback Chris Dietrich threw for 179 yards and two passing scores.

Old Tappan 28 Northern Highlands 7 | Super Football Conference

The Golden Knights’ blend of physicality and finesse was the recipe for success Friday night in a big showdown of Bergen County public school powers. Old Tappan (2-0), the reigning Group 3 state champions, were electric and commanded Northern Highlands (2-1) from the get-go. Junior QB Alex Orecchio threw two touchdown passes, ran for another and accounted for 288 total yards of offense in the win. Senior WR Evan Brooks had eight catches for 132 yards while Ronan Malady caught both touchdown passes. QB Nate Johnson scored the Highlanders’ lone touchdown in the loss.

Camden Eastside 14 Pennsauken 6 (3OT) | West Jersey Football League

Willy Love’s touchdown in triple overtime proved to be the difference as the Tigers picked up a huge divisional win and scored some payback against the Indians. Nazir Flack made some big plays in overtime, and tossed two touchdowns in the win. Fatim Diggs hauled in a touchdown and led a stout defensive effort for Camden Eastside (2-1). Monmouth commit Elijah Jennings scored a touchdown in the loss for Pennsauken (1-1).

St. Augustine 3 Cherokee 0 | West Jersey Football League

The Hermits won a defensive slugfest to earn a signature victory in South Jersey. Julian Giambuzzi had an interception for St. Augustine (2-1), while Ugo Nwotite and Matt Bonczek each had sacks in the win. On offense, Julian Turney rushed for 138 yards for the Hermits. Louis Rhodes had an interception for the Chiefs (2-1) in the loss.
