Middletown South 29 Red Bank Catholic 7

Tyler Cuccia had three TD runs and the Eagles scored 26 unanswered points to score an upset win and their first win of the season. Chris Lotito had a key interception and threw a TD pass on the halfback option to Matt Krellin. JSZ has the highlights of a stunner out of the Shore Conference:

Red Bank Regional 21 Manasquan 7

Jack Chamberlain had a TD run and a 50-yard TD pass to AJ Abarno in the first half to pace the Bucs to a 3-0 mark in 2019. Manasquan blocked a field goal and returned it to the 10-yard line setting up their only score of the game, but David Hicks responded with an 83-yard kickoff return to put the game away. Rumson-Fair Haven 49 Long Branch 20

John Volker scored three touchdowns in the first half including a 65-yard catch on a short pass as the Bulldogs rebounded from a 14-3 loss to Wall with an offensive explosion at home against Long Branch. Jermaine Corbett scored all three Long Branch TD’s in the loss. JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights from Rumson:

Shawnee 31 Hammonton 8

The defending South Jersey Group 4 champion Renegades improved to (3-0) with a convincing victory over the Blue Devils. Jake Barnett rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the win, with Tom Rebstock and Jaylen Horsley rushing for scores as well. Shawnee also moved the ball well through the air, as Matt Welsey connected with Nate Sommerville and Dom Frigiola for big plays. Kyle Vandever caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Barts for Hammonton in the loss.

Ridge 31 Bridgewater-Raritan 14

Ridge started off the 2019 season 2-0 following a 31-14 win over crosstown rival Bridgewater-Raritan. The Red Devils were able to take a commanding 21-0 lead in the first quarter after two touchdowns from wide receiver Cameron Lloyd. In the second half Lloyd would also catch a 56 yard pass from quarterback Brendan Bell for a third TD. JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights:

Ridgewood 20 Irvington 6

After starting 2-0 on the season, the Irvington Blue Knights hit a Maroon-colored roadblock Friday night. Ridgewood played suffocating defense throughout the game as they built a 20-0 lead behind two rushing touchdowns from Jack Wittmaack. Irvington did find the endzone in the fourth quarter one but it proved too late.

Haddonfield 28 Cinnaminson 0

The Bulldogs improve to (3-0) and extend its state-best 20-game win streak with a dominant victory over the Pirates. Haddonfield’s defense put on a stellar performance holding Cinnaminson to just 26 yards of offense. Senior quarterback Jack Narducci threw for 124 yards and three touchdowns, all to senior wideout Kyle Garstkiewicz, in the victory.

Phillipsburg 37 Hunterdon Central 14

The Phillipsburg Stateliners began the newest era at Maloney Stadium with a bang. In their first home game since new turf was installed during the offseason, P’Burg made a statement. All three phases of the team were tough, highlighted by Matt Quetel’s 212-yard, four-touchdown game.
