The Non-Public state title games took centerstage on Friday at Veterans Park in Hamilton Township. JSZ brings you full coverage as state championship weekend gets underway!
Don Bosco Prep 4 Red Bank Catholic 1 | Non-Public “A” State Final
Mike Staiano pitched six innings of one-run ball and had an RBI single as part of the Ironmens three-run 4th inning to give Don Bosco Prep (27-5) a second consecutive Non-Public “A” state championship. RBC jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Shane Andrus sacrifice fly in the top of the first with Don Bosco answering in the bottom of the frame on an Allen Hernandez RBI double. Andy Granatell broke the 1-1 tie in the 4th with an RBI single to center that scored Eric Becker on an errant throw to third base. From there, Staiano had an RBI single and Nick Becker capped off the three-run frame with an RBI double. Dylan Henshaw came on in the seventh to wrap up the Don Bosco repeat.

Gloucester Catholic 10 St. Mary (Rutherford) 0 | Non-Public “B” State Final
The Rams turned in a dominant performance to return to the mountaintop, winning their 20th state championship in program history and first since 2018. Crowder commit Tanner Nolan was brilliant on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out seven in a complete game shutout. Jake Terranova and Tyler Bunting drove in three runs, while Guy Lynam smashed a two-run home run in the win for Gloucester Catholic (24-7). Jason Rosado and Blayze Conte had hits in the loss for St. Mary (20-10).
