Opening weekend of the high school hockey season continues.  We get another Gordon Conference opener plus a special night at the Ocean Ice Palace as Brick shows their support for Toys for Tots!

Don Bosco Prep 3 Seton Hall Prep 1

Don Bosco begins the year 1-0 following a 3-1 victory over Gordon Conference rival Seton Hall Prep. The Ironmen got things going early in the first period with a goal from Matthew Bossolino to lead 1-0. We would remain at that score until the third where Matthew Shpungin and Andrew Tralongo traded goals, Shpungin added another score as under five minutes remained to secure the victory.

JSZ’s Nery Rodriguez has the highlights and postgame reaction from the Ice Vault in Wayne:

Brick 7 Manasquan 1

Nick Barroqueiro and freshman Brody Acropolis each had two-goal games as the co-op of Brick Township and Brick Memorial open the 2022-23 season with a dominating opener at Ocean Ice Palace.  Barroqueiro scored early in the first which triggered a Teddy Bear toss.  The Brick faithful all came with new stuffed animals as hundreds flew on the ice.  Brick hockey made a donation to Toys for Tots in a memorable way.  Nick Johnston, Jake Toye and Peter Morris also scored for Brick in the victory.
