Don Bosco Prep – 2 Pope John – 1 | NJSIAA Non-Public Qtr-Finals 

It hasn’t been easy for New Jersey’s No. 1 ranked team.. The Don Bosco Prep Ironmen have gone to overtime 3 of their last 4 games, including a loss in the Gordon Cup Final to rival Delbarton, and on Monday night things got even tougher. Despite out-shooting Pope John 81-16 on goal, Don Bosco had to overcome a 79 save performance from Lions’ goalie Matt Schoer and battle for a 2-1 OT win in the NJSIAA Non-Public Qtr Finals. TJ Schweighardt tied the game at 1 with just 0:30 remaining in regulation, and Tristan Frese completed the comeback with a game winning goal with just 0:45 to play in OT. The Ironmen will now face Gloucester Catholic in the semi-finals Thursday night at Mennen Arena.

Chatham 3 Mahwah 1 – Public C Tournament Quarterfinals

The No. 3 seed, Chatham, faced the No. 6, Mahwah, tonight in the quarterfinals of the ice hockey Public C Tournament. In the first period, Kevin Johnston of the Thunderbirds made an impressive interception and gave Mahwah the early lead; however, Thomas Winter of Chatham came to play. Winter scored two goals and he lead the team to victory, as the Cougars overpowered the Thunderbirds 3-. Check out full highlights of this matchup now:

Livingston 5 Middletown South 3 – Public B Tournament Quarterfinals

The quarterfinal round of the Ice Hockey Public B Tournament between fourth seed Livingston and fifth seed Middletown South was an intense thrill ride that had action from start to finish. South got on the board first thanks to Nick Lioudakis to take an early 1-0 lead but the celebration would be short lived as the Lancers answered back with 3 goals of their own to end the first period ahead 3-1. Livingston would score two more goals (second and third period) and with the Eagles falling into penalty trouble late would eventually walk away with a 5-3 victory. Chase Freidfertig recorded a hat trick for the Lancers as they to the Semifinals of the Public B Tournament to take on number one seed Randolph on 2/28 at Mennen Sports Arena.
