Arguably one of the most dominant high school careers ever in state history came to a close last week.

Stephanie Yakoff, a Fort Lee senior, became just the third player in New Jersey high school’s girls tennis history to win three singles state championships. The only thing that robbed Yakoff of a potential fourth title was the COVID-19 pandemic during her sophomore season.

On Oct. 22, Yakoff defeated Emily Ha of Holy Angels Academy in the 2022 girls singles state championships to cap off her career at 63-0. Yakoff edged Ha in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-3) in a three-hour battle for the title.
