The University of Connecticut is going back to one of New Jersey’s powerhouse basketball programs to bolster its roster.

The latest addition to the Huskies is Samson Johnson, a lean, 6-10 big man who burst onto the Garden State basketball scene in the 2019-2020 season with a breakout year for The Patrick School.

Johnson, who expects to be the top returning player for TPS next season. was one of the most consistent players on the floor for the Celtics. He averaged 8.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in his junior season.

His decision to join the Huskies rounds out a remarkable recruiting cycle for The Patrick School in the last five months. Jonathan Kuminga reclassified and signed a deal with the NBA’s G-League; Adama Sanogo reclassified and signed his NLI with UConn; Noah Farrakhan committed to East Carolina; Zarique Nutter committed to St. Peter’s University.
