Manville/Rutgers Prep/Immaculata 5 Montgomery 2 | Somerset County Summer Softball Tournament Final

Sophia Cicchetti of Watchung Hills takes Somerset County Home Run Derby!

In July, over 200 baseball teams battled to crown a “state champion” in the Last Dance World Series after the cancellation of spring sports. The event drew a great response from fans, including New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.

Bernards head softball coach Leslie O’Connor saw this as a chance to honor the players of Somerset County by hosting a two-day tournament that also featured a home run derby prior to the semifinals and championship game. Adelphi University commit Sophia Cicchetti of Watchung Hills won the contest with five long balls.
