Shore Sports Zone’s Rich Chrampanis goes one on one with White Sox 3rd baseman and Toms River native Todd Frazier about the 2016 season following a training session at Reach Your Potential Training

SSZ sponsor Reach Your Potential Training has been molding great athletes on the Jersey Shore.  Many of RYPT’s outstanding athletes are fixtures on our high school highlights.  Bobby Smith and Adam Feit have been training state champions, Division I athletes and All-Americans at their Tinton Falls facility and can now add an MLB All-Star to the list.  Toms River’s Todd Frazier worked this winter at RYPT to get ready for the upcoming 2016 season.  The 3rd baseman was traded in December from the Cincinnati Reds to the Chicago White Sox and is set to make his debut in the American League.  Frazier gave SSZ the opportunity to observe one of his workouts at RYPT.  We were able to talk with him about the choice to come train at Reach Your Potential Training as well as talk baseball.  From moving to the American League to advice for Jersey Shore draft hopefuls and the story of the time he saved a man’s life, Frazier showed why he is an outstanding ambassador of Toms River and the Jersey Shore.

Todd Frazier was traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Chicago White Sox on December 16th as part of a three team trade with the Reds, White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.  In four full seasons with Cincinnati, Frazier hit 108 home runs and drove in 324 runs.  A MLB All-Star in 2014 and 2015, Frazier won the Home Run Derby last year in front of the home fans in Cincinnati.  Frazier’s path to the big leagues started with worldwide headlines.  He was a catalyst in Toms River winning the 1998 Little League World Series, going 4-4 with a home run against Japan and also getting the win on the mound.  An All-American at Rutgers, Frazier was the #34 overall pick by the Reds in the 2007 MLB Amateur Draft.

Frazier still lives in Toms River in the offseason.  He has helped formed Frazier Baseball with his brothers, former big leaguers Jeff and Charlie.  Visit frazierbaseball.com to learn more about the impact they are making on youngsters playing baseball in Ocean County.
