St. John Vianney and Donovan Catholic had an epic battle in Red Bank for the Shore Conference softball championship.  For the second straight year, the Shore finals goes to extra innings.  Watch all the action from an NJ softball game of the year candidate!

Isabelle Cattelona’s RBI single to right field in the ninth gave Saint John Vianney a dramatic come-from-behind extra innings thriller ending the three-year reign of the Griffins as Shore Conference champs.  SJV raced out to a 5-0 lead before two Donovan Catholic homers helped the Griffins take a 6-5 lead.  Madison McDougall’s solo blast in the fifth tied the game 6-6 setting the stage for extra innings drama.  Christina Ginex gave Donovan Catholic a 9-6 lead in the top of the 8th with a three-run double.  SJV was down to its final out before Gabby Gonzalez launched a dramatic three-run homer to dead center setting the stage for Cattelona’s heroics.
