Watchung Hills 2 Hillsborough 0

After opening the year with an underwhelming 2-11 record, the Warriors have found their groove and could be one of the hottest softball teams in the entire state.

A pitching gem from Jules Raymond and a timely hit from Morgan Bobrowski fueled Watchung Hills (11-11) in their quest to win the 2023 Somerset County Tournament final Friday night in Bridgewater.

Raymond – who tossed a pair of perfect games last week in tournament action – was once again stellar. She tossed a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts against one of the better lineups in the state.

Morgan Bobrowski delivered the hit of the night in the top of the seventh inning. With runners on first and second with one out, Bobrowski barreled a pitch and sent it to the wall. The bases clearing double plated the two go-ahead runs.

Hillsborough (18-2) came into the final as the two-time reigning champions. Sarah Davenport pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts in the loss.
