Plainfield 20 Elizabeth 19 (4OT) | Big Central Conference Championship
Plainfield won its first Big Central Conference flag football championship in unforgettable fashion, outlasting Elizabeth 20-19 in four overtimes. Malia Underwood threw a 15-yard touchdown to KaZhae Casey in the first half, ran for a game-tying score in the fourth quarter, and later connected with Casey again for the go-ahead point in 4OT. Imani Mullings forced overtime with an 11-yard touchdown catch with 15 seconds left in regulation, while Mackenzie Cole had a key first-half interception and the Cardinals defense delivered the championship-clinching stop on Elizabeth’s final two-point try. Elizabeth was led by Sanaii Mayers, who threw two touchdown passes, ran for a score, and added an interception, while Nyla Santos had a 43-yard touchdown catch and an overtime interception for the Lady Minutemen.
