The Bears hadn’t lost to a Greater Middlesex Conference opponent all season long, and they weren’t going to let it happen Monday.

East Brunswick (11-2), the No. 1 seed in the GMC Tournament, scored a 6-0 win over No. 16 seed JFK-Iselin (7-9) in the tournament’s first round Monday. Senior Kayla Reed and sophomore Syndey Taha each scored a pair of goals to lead the offense. The back end of the defense was solid, too, as the Bears collected their 10th clean sheet on the year.
