Watch our JSZ-TV feature on Mia Pauldo and Dawn Karpell getting the call for the McDonald’s All-American game!
New Jersey has had some great players in the McDonald’s All-American game. On the girls side, Manasquan’s Marina Mabrey was the MVP in 2015 before going on to Notre Dame and the WNBA. Another WNBA product, Diamond Miller of Franklin represented New Jersey on the national stage. Current college stars Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame), Zoe Brooks (NC State) and Mikayla Blakes (Vanderbilt) have also had the honor of being a McDonald’s All-American. The next great New Jersey guard is now a part of that list. Morris Catholic senior Mia Pauldo has been selected to the 2025 McDonald’s All-American game. The University of Tennessee commit is approaching 2,000 career points and is chasing a third straight state championship.
Playing in the McDonald’s All-American basketball game is a great honor and so is coaching. The St. John Vianney basketball program has seen guard Zoe Brooks play in the national showcase in 2023 and now their head coach is getting the honor of working with the best players in America. Dawn Karpell has been named the head coach of the East All-Stars in the McDonald’s All-American game which is set for April 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Approaching 550 career wins and seven state titles, Karpell has put the Lancers in the national spotlight and everyone in the New Jersey basketball community will concur that this is a much-deserved honor.
One other player with New Jersey ties will play in the McDonald’s All-American boys game. Darius Adams, who spent his first two seasons at Manasquan before transferring to LaLumiere in Indiana, is one of the top players in the nation and is committed to the University of Connecticut.
