Middletown North 12 Middletown South 6

Middletown North piled up 11 runs in the first two innings and Tyler Ras settled down from a shaky first inning to put up four scoreless frames as the Lions completed a regular season sweep of the Eagles.  North scored three runs in the top of the first, but Middletown South responded with a four run second inning highlighted by two RBI hits by Jon Martin and Robby Zega.  But the Lions exploded in the second inning as Mike Mercier sparked a two out rally with a two-run triple to right center.  A bases loaded walk and a two run error followed.  The big blow came off the bat of Jason Timmons who hit a three run homer to cap off the frame.  SSZ has highlights of Friday night baseball in Middletown:
