It’s a good thing Kayla Vazquez doesn’t shy away from challenges, because there’s plenty on the road ahead this season.

Vazquez, a freshman at Kinnelon, is the latest girls wrestler in the Garden State looking to put together a state championship run in the wild, pandemic-shortened 2021 New Jersey high school wrestling season.

We caught Vazquez capturing an early career milestone on Tuesday – securing her first varsity pin in boys action vs. Hanover Park, and then delivering a pin in a girls exhibition match to close the night.
