Red Bank Catholic will have a new head football coach for the 2016 season after Jim Portela announced that he is stepping down as the Caseys field general. Portela confirmed his resignation to SSZ, in a story first reported by the Shore Sports Network. Portela was the head football coach at RBC from 2009 through 2015 posting an impressive 63-13 overall record. The highlight of his seven year run was the Caseys 2014 Non-Public Group 3 state championship that culminated with a 45-20 win over Delbarton at MetLife Stadium.
Portela was the athletic coordinator at RBC as well as teaching business. He was the Managing Director at Deutsche Bank for 22 years from 1988 to 2011 and been an independent consultant for a number of financial institutions.
