Jersey Shore pounds Burlington County 18-0 in the opening round of the Philadelphia Phillies Carpenter Cup
PHILADELPHIA – The Jersey Shore All-Stars began defense of its Carpenter Cup Championship with an 18-0 rout against Burlington County. Last year, the Jersey Shore won the championship game against Burlington at the home of the big league Phillies. The Jersey Shore pounded out 23 hits and seven hitters combined on a 2-hit shutout and 8 strikeouts. With the win, Jersey Shore advances to the quarterfinals of the 16 team tournament and faces Tri-Cape on Friday at 2:00 pm in Philadelphia. The Carpenter Cup features high school baseball All-Star teams in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
