Longtime assistant Shannon Hoadley takes over for Steve Sciarappa (pictured above) as the head football coach at Mater Dei Prep

Shannon Hoadley, the defensive coordinator at Mater Dei Prep since 2008, is taking over the Seraphs football program.  Hoadley replaces Steve Sciarappa, who is leaving the program.  Hoadley is a 1989 graduate of Mater Dei Prep and has been coaching football for 18 years.

“I intend to lead Mater Dei Prep football to continued excellence by balancing core values, discipline, on and off the field, and athletic prowess,” Hoadley said in a press release.  “As an alumnus, I am fulfilling a life-long dream to be the Head Football Coach.  I am excited about the opportunity to instill the values and lessons I learned at Mater Dei Prep to current and future Seraphs.”

The Seraphs are coming off a school record 8-3 season that saw the school reach the state semifinals.   Quarterback Christian Palmer and wide receiver Eddie Lewis made Shore Sports Zone’s All-Zone Football team.  Palmer is graduated and off to Salve Regina, while Lewis is back as one of the top wideouts and the Shore and has already garnered some Division I offers.
