BRICK – Marina Mabrey battled through foul trouble to score 22 points to help Manasquan defeat Saint John Vianney 53-48 in the Shore Conference girls basketball semifinals. The Warriors will face Saint Rose in the championship game after the Purple Roses eliminated Middletown South 59-40 in the first semifinal. Manasquan staked out to a 19-6 lead after one quarter, but Mabrey picked up three fouls in the first half and the Lady Lancers cut the deficit to 24-20 at the half.
In the 3rd, Mabrey picked up her 4th foul with 5:03 to go in the quarter. Senior Courtney Hagaman provided a huge spark with four three pointers and kept the young Warriors calm and poised with their star on the bench. Kelly Campbell had 25 points in a losing effort and helped SJV storm back from double digits in the 4th quarter. A Campbell layin made it 48-46 Manasquan with one minute to go. Stella Clark hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final 60 seconds to put the game away.
