Christian Brothers Academy pitcher Luca Dalatri has given a verbal commitment to play college baseball at the University of North Carolina. Dalatri, who just completed his sophomore season, has two more years of high school baseball with the Colts. The right handed pitcher confirmed the news on his Twitter account:
Proud to say that I’ve committed to the University of North Carolina. Thank you to everyone who supported me and this is just the beginning.
Dalatri’s teammate, catcher Brandon Martorano is also committed to play in Chapel Hill. In addition, CBA graduate Joe Dudek just completed his freshman campaign, starting 26 games and hitting four home runs for the Tar Heels. Dalatri was 11-0 with a 0.39 ERA. In 72.3 innings, he struck out 90 and walked 12. While the pitcher has his college plans secure, he could still opt to go the professional baseball route in the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft.
