Shore Regional’s field hockey players and alumni gathered at Franklin Lake for a fun run to help raise funds for the Nancy Williams Legacy Scholarship
Nancy Williams is a year removed from coaching field hockey and softball at Shore Regional high school, but her legacy and impact on the Blue Devils athletes lives on. Shore’s field hockey alumni have formed an annual scholarship fund to be given to a Shore Regional senior field hockey player based on an essay.
The “Take a Lake” fun run is a new alumni gathering inspired by the nation’s all-time wins leader in high school field hockey and the habit of sending her players on a run around Franklin Lake, located behind Shore Regional High, as part of Shore’s conditioning every fall.
Current Shore players and alumni took their turn around the lake and used support from local businesses to increase the scholarship fund. Jessica Ayres was the first recipient of the Nancy Williams Legacy Scholarship.
