The last time Anthony Volpe played a baseball game in New Jersey was in June of 2019 when he led Delbarton to a Non-Public A state championship win. The victory came just days after he was selected 30th overall by the New York Yankees in the MLB Draft.
Now, we fast forward nearly three years, and Volpe has emerged as the top overall prospect in the Yankees’ organization. He had a breakout 2021 campaign and now returns home to New Jersey to start the 2022 season with the AA-affiliate Somerset Patriots. TD Bank Ballpark is only 10 miles from his childhood home and he’s excited to be playing right in his backyard.
