The *loaded* North Group 3 boys lacrosse bracket was cut down to just two teams on Thursday with the second semifinal between No. 2 Summit and No. 8 Scotch Plains-Fanwood. The winner faces No. 4 Chatham in a marquee sectional final on Tuesday. Check out all the action below!
Summit 12 Scotch Plains-Fanwood 7 | North Group 3 Semifinal
No. 2/2-seed Summit boys lacrosse are headed to their ninth straight sectional final after defeating No. 8/3-seed Scotch Plains-Fanwood 12-7 in Thursday’s North Group 3 semifinals. This is the third time that they have bested the Raiders this season, defeating them once in the regular season and in the Union County Tournament final. The Hilltoppers shot out to a 4-0 in the first ten minutes of the game, which proved to be the difference maker.
The Hilltoppers were led by Quinn Hynes and Luke Fowler who each scored hat tricks on the afternoon. James Grainger and Cole Sabol followed them with two goals each, and Robbie Kievit added 8 saves on 15 shots. Ryan Scarpa was the Raiders’ top scorer with four goals. Summit will now visit No. 4/top-seed Chatham in Tuesday’s North Group 3 final.
