The NJ baseball state playoffs roll on, and JSZ has four matchups for you on this last Thursday in May! First, No. 4 Seton Hall Prep and No. 19 St. Joe’s (Mont.) square off in the Non-Public “A” North quarterfinals. Then, we head to NP-A South where Red Bank Catholic faces St. John Vianney. Finally, we have two games in South Jersey Group 4 as Cherokee visits Gloucester Tech and Washington Twp. heads to Egg Harbor. Check out all the action below!
Seton Hall Prep 4 St. Joe’s (Mont.) 3 | Non-Public “A” North Quarterfinals
No. 4/4-seed Seton Hall Prep baseball is headed for the Non-Public “A” North quarterfinals as the Pirates defeated No. 19/5-seed St. Joe’s (Mont.) 4-3 in walkoff fashion 0n Thursday. The game-winning hit came off the bat of Jack Webber with one out in the bottom of the 7th, bringing home West Virginia commit Jordan Burwell. Burwell had an RBI on the day for SHP, as did Xavier McKnight. Boston College commit JJ Drennan got the win on the mound with a 98-pitch, 3 ER, 4 K complete game.
The Pirates now move to Tuesday’s Non-Public “A” North semifinals where they will visit No. 1/1-seed Delbarton.

Red Bank Catholic 4 St. John Vianney 1 | Non-Public “A” South Quarterfinals
Drew Cannon and Luke Lonczak had three hits and an RBI apiece and Glen Popes throws a complete game six-hitter with six strikeouts to help the Caseys (18-8) to snap a four game losing skid and earn a spot in the section semis against St. Augustine. Wyatt Lewis tripled and scored SJV’s lone run on a Michael Capado sacrifice fly to tie the game 1-1 in the 5th. Tyler Hager’s RBI groundout in the 5th gave the Caseys the lead before RBC tacked on two more runs in the 6th. The Lancers season comes to an end with a 16-10 mark.

Cherokee 8 Gloucester Tech 7 | South Jersey Group 4 First Round
On May 11th, Cherokee sat at 7-12. Eighteen days later, the reigning Group 4 state champions punched their ticket to the South Jersey Group 4 quarterfinals as the No. 14 seed. Mississippi State commit Cooper Burti sparked a fifth-inning rally that turned into a seven-run frame for the Chiefs. Cherokee (12-12) knocked off third-seeded GCIT (15-11) and will face division rival Cherry Hill East in the quarterfinals for the third meeting between the two teams this season.

Washington Twp. 13 Egg Harbor 9 | South Jersey Group 4 First Round
The twelfth-seeded Minutemen broke out the bats in a big way as they sprung the upset to advance to the sectional quarterfinals. Rowan commit Luke McKenty homered, finished with three RBIs, and set the program record for doubles in a single season (12) in the victory. Josh Lynch added three RBIs, while Misericordia commit Quintin Myers picked up his 100th career strikeout for Washington Township (11-12). Chase Battersby homered as part of a three RBI day in the loss for fifth-seeded Egg Harbor Township (16-12). The Minutemen will face fourth-seeded Rancocas Valley tomorrow.
