Championship season is officially underway on the diamond. We’ve got the Monmouth County Tournament final and the start of the Diamond Classic in South Jersey. Check out all the action!
Ranney 5 Howell 2 | Monmouth County Tournament Championship
Noah Hynes pitched 6.2 innings allowing two hits and striking ou six and JL Gallina came on in relie to get the final out to give the Panthers a second MCT title in the last four years. Braden Cox was 3-3 with a double, triple and an RBI and Brody McCorkle had an RBI single as part of a three-run fifth inning. Ranney scored two in the second and three in fifth with two Howell errors contributing to three runs. Howell got a two-run triple by Ryan Todisco in the sixth inning. Ranney started the season 2-6 but have come to life in May with a 9-8 record.

Vineland 17 Shawnee 4 (6 Innings) | Diamond Classic 1st Round
Valin Townsend ended this Diamond Classic first-round matchup with a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning. The sophomore’s first varsity home run propelled Vineland (14-7) into the second round. Jake Garton recorded 11 strikeouts for the Fighting Clan, a new single-game best for the senior. Thirteenth-seeded Vineland eliminated nineteenth-seeded Shawnee (11-7) and will face either top-seeded Gloucester Catholic or 32nd-seeded Sterling in the next round.
