Alex Orecchio’s versatility was on full display at Rutgers. The Old Tappan senior had a touchdown catch, touchdown run and threw a touchdown pass to lead the Golden Knights to its second state title in the last three years. Orecchio finished with 14 carries for 57 yards along with eight catches for 140 yards to go along with his 14-yard touchdown pass to Shane Small. Tied 7-7 at the half, Old Tappan (12-1) took the lead on Orecchio’s 3-yard touchdown run in the third. Jake Blum had a 39-yard touchdown catch and Rocco DeBiaso ran for a 73-yard score in a losing effort for Mainland (10-4).
