The girls’ soccer state tournament is back in action as the non-public’s join the fray to join public schools in the quarterfinal round. Check out the highlights as they roll in tonight!


Moorestown 1 Lacey 1 (Moorestown wins PK’s 3-1) | South Jersey Group 3 Quarterfinal

Rutgers commit Lauren Swafford came up with two huge saves in PKs to help the fifth-seeded Quakers knock off the Lions and reach the sectional semifinals. Swafford totaled six saves during regulation and overtime in the victory. Julia Blong netted a penalty kick in the 35th minute to level the match for Moorestown (12-4-6). Seton Hall commit Reece Paget scored her 18th goal of the season in the loss for fourth-seeded Lacey (18-3-1). The Quakers now get set to face top-seeded Shawnee on Monday.

Red Bank Catholic 2 St. John Vianney 1 (OT) | Non-Public A South Quarterfinal

Freshman Lexi Sinatra’s second goal of the match came :26 into overtime to give the Caseys a spot in the section semifinals on Monday.  Kennedy Wallace gave St. John Vianney a 1-0 lead midway through the first half before Sinatra leveled the match just over three minutes later.  RBC will take on top seed Paul VI next week on the road.

DePaul Catholic 8 Hawthorne Christian 0 | Non-Public B North Quarterfinal

The No. 7 ranked girls’ soccer team in the country began their state tournament run with a dominant win. Penn State bound senior Nicole Crane led DePaul Catholic (17-0) with a hat trick in the win. The Spartans advance to face either Eastern Christian or Timothy Christian in the sectional semifinals next week.
