Kean University hosted the Non-Public softball championships. Watch all the highlights and see St. John Vianney and Morris Catholic finish their seasons with state titles!
St. John Vianney 4 Mount St. Dominic 1 | Non-Public A State Final
Madison McDougall threw a 1-hitter for the second straight year in the state finals and the Lancers repeat as state champions in a rematch of last year’s title game. McDougall had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning before Olivia Bilbo spoiled that with an RBI double with one out. But that was the only blemish for the sophomore who struck out 13 batters to finish with 300 K’s on the season. Elisabeth Figliolino had a two-run double in the second that highlighted a three-run frame and a 4-0 SJV lead.
JSZ’s Rich Chrampanis has the highlights and post-game reaction from Kean:
Morris Catholic 10 St. Joe-Hammonton 0 (6 Innings) | Non-Public B State Final
Sophomore Sofia Reisinger pitched six shutout innings and ended the game at the plate to cap off a six run sixth inning to give Morris Catholic its third state title in the last four years. The Crusaders avenged last year’s loss to St. Joe-Hammonton in the state final.
