Red Bank Regional pitcher Mason O’Mara used a productive summer to earn a Division I baseball scholarship. O’Mara has given a verbal commitment prior to his senior season to play at Division I George Mason University. O’Mara’s commitment was first reported by Ella Brockway. It’s not the first Buc to find his way to GMU. Jake Kalish, a 2010 graduate of Red Bank Regional, played at George Mason and is currently in the Kansas City Royals farm system. Kalish grew up on the same street as O’Mara and Mason talked with Jake about his experience at George Mason prior to committing.
O’Mara spent his first two years at Christian Brothers Academy before transferring to Red Bank Regional for his junior season. George Mason competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference and had a 19-35 record last year. Bill Brown has been the head baseball coach at GMU for 35 years and has guided the Patriots to seven NCAA Tournament appearances.
